Linking Different Geospatial Databases by Explicit Relations
نویسندگان
چکیده
The growing awareness of the importance of spatial information has led to a continuously increasing demand for geospatial data. Thus, a lot of different companies and institutions have evolved that are aiming at satisfying this demand by capturing the real world according to the needs of different applications. This process involves that one and the same real world object is stored in several representations in different geospatial databases. The integration of these representations is a major research challenge in the field of GIS. In our approach we use a semi-automatic matching tool for defining relations between representations on the instance level. These relations are used in order to automatically derive an integrated data schema. The relations on the instance level as well as the integrated data schema can be used for automatically merging data sets, for automatically transferring updates from one data set into another or for a common analysis of spatial data from different sources. * Corresponding author

Semantic Augmentation of Geospatial Concepts: the Multi-view Augmented Concept to Improve Semantic Interoperability between Multiples Geospatial Databases
Semantic interoperability is a key issue for the meaningful sharing of geospatial data between multiples geospatial databases. It requires the establishment of semantic mappings between concepts databases’ ontologies. Semantic mappings can be discovered only when semantics is explicit. However, existing concepts’ definitions are not always sufficient to represent the semantic richness of geospa...
متن کاملDC Proposal: Towards a Framework for Efficient Query Answering and Integration of Geospatial Data
Semantic Web technologies are becoming more interleaved with geospatial databases, which should lead to an easier integration and querying of spatial data. This is fostered by a growing amount of publicly available geospatial data like OpenStreetMap. However, the integration can lead to geographic inconsistencies when combining multiple knowledge bases. Having the integration in place, users mi...
متن کاملIntegrative Geospatial Databases
Modern geographical information systems make it possible to integrate information from multiple sources in different forms for querying and analysing information. So the importance of geospatial databases is growing from day to day, and their applications extend beyond the traditional applications of geospatial databases and GIS. One of the most recent challenges is integrating geospatial data ...
متن کاملReal Time Semantic Interoperability in Ad Hoc Networks of Geospatial Data Sources: Challenges, Achievements and Perspectives
Recent advances in geospatial technologies have made available large amount of geospatial data. Meanwhile, new developments in Internet and communication technologies created a shift from isolated geospatial databases to ad hoc networks of geospatial data sources, where data sources can join or leave the network, and form groups to share data and services. However, effective integration and sha...
متن کاملIntegrating ontologies and schema for biographic and geographic databases
This paper describes a key set of ingredients to sharing biographical and geographic information that is stored in separate databases. These ingredients include the concepts of geospatial ontologies as well as database schema. A proof-of-concept system was developed with three databases of Chinese history and geography. Background and Relevance Ontologies have been a dominant theme in GIScience...
